The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

If you don't know that I am totally and utterly obsessed with these movies, actors, and whole film process, then...w-o-w. I absolutely adore the actors (Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes (shocker!), Georgie Henley, Will Moseley, and Anna Popplewell) and I am SO FREAKIN' EXCITED TO SEE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER IN DIGITAL 3D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOOOOOO! Ok, so if you haven't seen the trailer for it yet, here's the YouTube link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrJQDPpIK6I

GO WATCH IT!!! It's sooooooooo awesome! The only thing I'm sad about is that Andrew Adamson (the director for the previous films) isn't directing VOTDT, but he is a producer, so that's good. Whew. So yes, I am going to drag EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. of you to come see this amazing movie with me! :D

Tron: Legacy

Ok, I keep seeing trailers for this movie and it looks epically amazing. Not, however, because of the story or the special effects (though those do look pretty snazzy), but because it has my favourite actor of all time, Garrett Hedlund, in the lead role of Sam Flynn. *insert Sam's cheesy grin here* But besides that, I think it looks pretty cool anyway. Apparently it's a sequel to a movie from the 80's which I haven't seen...But anyway, here's the link to the HD trailer on YouTube:

So watch and enjoy! Tell me what ya think! :)

Titles

Oh, how I loathe titles. Especially the one for my book, because it is currently playing a very sneaky game of hide-and-seek. I can't find it. Invisi and Miss Priss have been helping me try to find a title, but I just can't seem to find a title that sums up my book! *wail* Maybe Jennifer (the agent I want) will have some brilliant ideas, cause I sure don't have any.

Skandie Is EXCITED!!!! :D

Ok, so as most of you know, I like to write. A lot. *insert Sam's cheesy smile here* And as most of you know, I have written a book. And apparently it is a very LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG book (it's 270,000 words, as compared to the typical novel, which is 100,000 words. As a way of comparing, Eragon and Twilight are 130,000 words) So yes, I have written a long book. A book that is MUUUCH too long, if I have any hope of getting it published. Apparently agents and publishers do NOT like such long books *epic wail* So....we're cutting it in half, which is ironic, because this was already half of what I intended! So my 600 page book is getting cut down to 255 pages (computer pages), and it now equals 130,000 words, which'll be around 500 book pages. My first book shall become two. Which is goooooood, in a way, because now Mum and I will get the book edited sooner (no later than the end of this summer; we've got, like, four chapters left) and we can get it out into the massively complicated publishing world sooner. :D :D The only thing me is missing is the book title...the series title...and an agent. Andrea Brown Literary Agency, look out! Skandar's coming for you! ;) So PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE be praying for Mum and me and my little book as we continue to work on it, and pray that God will open up a door for us to get this book published! :) Also, if you know anybody, or you know somebody that knows somebody, that would have some good advice, or help, or anything, please let me know!!! :D

Skype

So Brother and his girlfriend Wade got Skype on their new computers, and we tested them out last night. Little did I know how many different avatars on Skype there are. Wade was this little white cat, and it moved its head when she did, moved its mouth when she talked, and did all sorts of weird stuff. And there were several anime avatars Invisi would have loved! Brother had a gas mask (like from WWII) and Wade had a hat from the 18th century. And a bubble (she was an astronaut). Brother had a fist that popped up on the screen and looked like it was punching you. And he was the Little Mermaid, which was...odd, to say the least...And then Wade's cat Pippin came into view and Wade put a froggy hat on him :) It twas very fun :)

VIVA ESPANIA!!!!!!!!

Now, as you all know, I dislike soccer. A lot. But I watched the World Cup Final game in Johannesburg, South Africa, between Spain and the Netherlands. And yes, Jestar, I watched the ENTIRE game. And to my surprise, I actually enjoyed watching it very much, despite the fact that the game went into overtime. Twice. It was a very long game. But Spain won!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!! I was ridiculously excited that they beat the Netherlands. I really didn't like the Dutch guy, Robeen. Bleh, he was annoying. And whiny. So I enjoyed my first real TV soccer game immensely. VIVA ESPANIA!!!!! :D :D :D

Tuck Everlasting

On Saturday I saw the very best movie I've seen in a VERY long time: Tuck Everlasting. I'd always heard of it and Mom had tried to get me to read it before, but I'd never watched it. But while in Salado, while intensely bored, we went to the library and got this movie. I watched it that afternoon and immediately loved it. I made Mom watch it again with me later, and we stayed up till 1 o'clock watching it. :D So here's the summary of Tuck Everlasting:

If you could choose to live forever...would you? Tuck Everlasting is the story of a girl named Winnie Foster and a family who she meets, the Tucks. The Tucks have a secret: they're immortal, impervious to disease and unable to die, even if shot or bitten by a rattlesnake. They drank water from a spring that was actually a fountain of youth. Till the end of time, they will stay that way. Winnie falls in love with one of the Tucks, Jesse, a "17" year old boy who shares the same feelings for her. Scared of death, Winnie must choose between being immortal and being with Jesse or following the circle of life and dying someday. The Tucks try to teach her how she shouldn't fear death, how they would give anything to die. It teaches the importance and understanding of life and death. It shows that you should not fear death, but to fear an unlived life.

Poems

Invisi and I have been writing poems all day. For my book. And from this conversation, I have decided that I simply MUST have her two poems (Immortal Sands and The Writer's Saga) in my book, because they are so AMAZING!!! So you will see Invisi's poems in my book. :D Meanwhile, here is a poem I wrote for my book. Enjoy!

Pale Hope

From the ashes of a ruined hope,
In the dying twilight of a long-dead day,
Six fading candles flicker,
Holding the choking shadows at bay.

Fire and shifting shapes swirl in the mist,
Twisted, pale, and grey.
Small and wavering on the edge of night,
They stand unaided,
Giving an unknown fight.

Shadows and whispers of dark things,
Nameless and long forgotten,
They crawl, breaking through the ring.

One of the candles wavers farther,
Tempted by the lies of the gusting breeze,
Till at last, it flickers out,
Letting the shadows creep in with ease.

Five fading candles flicker,
Holding the smothering shadows at bay.
The shadows deepen, shutting out the light,
Their inky claws reaching
From the dark concealment of night.

One by one,
The darkness touches them all;
The shadows consume bit by bit,
One by one, they fall.

But far off a pale light lingers;
A dawn, a soft hope,
Reaching out with untainted fingers.

A single candle is relit,
Its dim light weak,
From its flame frail hope shall emit.

One by one,
The light touches them all;
Out of the consuming darkness,
One by one they crawl.

The light spreads its golden wings,
Growing stronger,
Changing all living things.
At long last, the world is healed.

Oh Inviiiiiiiiiiiisi!

Hey Invisi! A question for you: since you are obviously a great poet (ex. Writer's Saga) can you try to whip up an amazing poem for my book? Cause there's one part in which I need a poem, and I am not good with poetry! :( So if you want to give it a try, tell me and I'll email what I have so far to you and you can work your invisimagic :)

The Last Airbender - The Results

The Last Airbender was the most epic fail I've seen in a VERY long time. First of all, they did a very cheesy opening, where the four benders show some of their bending like the beginning of the cartoons. It looked like a school play. You could see the stage and tell that the effects were superfake. They mispronounced every. single. name. except for Katara and Zuko. Uncle Iroh was neither fat nor in love with tea nor a blithe, happy old guy. Sokka was not funny and his ponytail was waaay too long and on top of that, Jackson Rathbone is a terrible actor. I'm sorry, TwilightLover; he stinks. The story was waaaaaaaay too rushed; I had no idea what was going on. And I've watched the cartoons! Zuko was Indian, looked like he was 30 years old (he was s'posed to be 16), had hardly any scar on his face, and basically had wrinkles. It was nasty. Aang was not fun-loving, adventurous, nor did he smile and laugh often. And Jestar, yes, Appa was fluffy, but he was brown. :/ It was the WORST. MOVIE. ADAPTION. EVER.
